Salvia Indigo Spires Pyrrosia In the gardenSalvia 'Indigo Spires' is a 1979 introduction from California's Huntington Botanical Garden. Selected by California horticulturist, John MacGregor, Salvia 'Indigo Spires' arose as a cross of Salvia farinacea x Salvia longispicata. Salvia 'Indigo Spires' forms an upright 3' tall clump, topped with arching spikes of dark blue purple flowers throughout summer and until frost. The unusual, twisting flower spikes create a form of their own in the garden.
