I wanted to portray the crone nature of one of these cemetery trees without falling into what for me is the trap of Naturalism

I also rejected the naturalist approach to the ground here

I saw the shapes of those involved in rituals to raise the dead assembling in a circle on the left and conjuring an angel--a dark one--to guide dead souls

drenching themselves with beauty

Ghosts of every kind walk and talk above the quiet rustling of the spirits of wood, glass, floors, air, and plants. Old memories are preserved and new ones made. The light coming through a window makes spirits invisible to the human eye, but they are there in the dark, willing to be seen for those who wish to look. This painting was completely unplanned and arose from the paint. This is the first time I have been
